The Saddest Word

Standard

From the Yaghan language of Tierra del Fuego.

Mamihlapinatapai

a look shared by two people, each of whom wish the other would initiate something that they both desire, but which neither one wants to concede.

(My phrasing. Originally shared by Anand).

Now I’m going to try to write a poem.

  1. Bit late to the post, though I thought I’d add something I read about the Yaghan language. It has only one native speaker left (or something in that region).

Self and friend have grand plans of hiking into Tierra del Fuego and demanding that he/she teach it to us. Oh what fun.
